1.     Bentuk pertanyaan Yes/No (Forms of Yes/No question)

A yes/no question adalah sebuah pertanyaan yang dijawab dengan yes/no.

Contoh:         

Mile : Does he like milk?

Mary: Yes, he does. atau No, he doesn’t. (Long answer: Yes, he likes milk./No, he doesn’t like milk.)

Tom : Does he live in Bandung?

John : Yes, he does. atau No, he doesn’t. (Long answer: Yes, he lives in Bandung./No, he doesn’t live in Bandung.)

Note: Yes, he does. (Short answer)

2.     Pertanyaan informasi (Information question)

An information question adalah sebuah pertanyaan yang meminta untuk mendapatkan informasi dengan menggunakan a question word. (Question words : what, when, who, why, where, what time, etc.)

Contoh :         

Justin : Where does she live?

Simon: She lives in Bandung.

Alice : What do you like?

Miley : I like ice cream and chocolate.

Note: Am, is and are are not contracted with pronouns in short answers.

INCORRECT SHORT ANSWERS: Yes, I’m. Yes, she’s. Yes, they’re.

            CORRECT SHORT ANSWER: Yes, I am. Yes, she is. Yes, they are.
